Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) under leadership of screenwriter Sayyed Fouad, in cooperation with Cultural Development Fun under leadership of Fathi Abdel Wahab, Phd, celebrate the 1st anniversary of the African Cinema Club with a huge ceremony that will be held on Saturday 20 January 2018 at 6 PM at the Artistic Creativity Center, Cairo Opera House.
The ceremony will include the screenings of “HEDI” from Tunisia, directed by Mohamed Ben Attia, produced by Dora Bouchoucha, and distributed by MAD Solutions Alaa Karkouti, the film was awarded the Silver Bear of Best Actor at Berlin Film Festival for Majd Mastoura’s performance, who was also awarded the Best Actor award at Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF).
There will also be an honoring for ambassadors of countries whose films were screened during the club’s 1st year.
A short documentary on the activities of the club’s 1st year will be screened, noting that this is the only African cinema club in the world that exclusively features African films, and it will be attended by the ambassadors of Rwanda, Kenya, Cameron, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoir, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.
African Cinema Club was founded by LAFF, and it was launched on the 9th of January of last year by Helmy El-Namnam, Minister of Culture at the time, and it is the first African cinema club in the continent, and it aims to open new horizons for African films by branching off into other African counties as well as other governorates of Egypt.
The 7th edition of LAFF will be held 16-22 March 2018 under the support of the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with Ministries of Tourism and Foreign Affairs, the Governorate of Luxor, Theatrical Professions Syndicate, and the National Bank of Egypt.
